Acid Blue 40 is a dark blue dye of anthraquinone that is provided in form of a solid synthetic. It dissolves well in water to give a homogenous blue solution and can also dissolve in acetone and ethanol. The dye is a bit soluble in nitrobenzene and is not soluble in non-polar solvents like benzene and dimethyl benzene.
